Ipad wont restore

Have a iPad 2 wifi 16 gb (jail broken) and it won't restore to factory presets. Also, when I try to upgrade to 5.1 it never finishes, it just says error downloading 5.1 upgrade.

You cannot restore to an earlier firmware.

Reading between the lines, I assume you have tried to update to 5.1, and once this has started, you cannot restore to 5.0.1.

Try putting the iPad into recovery mode and try completing the update from there:
iPad: Unable to update or restore

Beware, iOS 5.1 cannot be jailbroken

I had this exact same problem with my iPod try this

1. Plug your iPad into the computer
2. Open iTunes
3. Hold down the power button and the home button at the same time for 30second to 1 minute until it shuts down and the apple logo appears on the iPad
4.a message on iTunes will appear and ask you if you want to restore your iPad
5 click yes and it will restore it

This worked for me but does it work for everybody? I have no idea but try it
