Ipad messaging

Hi, my friend is here from France (she lives in the upstairs condo) and she bought an iPad.
We've been messaging on our iPads all the time.
We were wondering when she goes back to France will we still be able to send messages? Or do we have to use email or FaceTime. Thanks

You should be able to. iMessage allows that, provided you are connected to wifi on those models. I think even on cellular models do as well.
