Recently my iBooks app response time has grown significantly. Turning a page can take 7 seconds. It's just long enough that sometimes I think it has not felt the swipe. So I swipe again and then two pages turn rapid fire. Is this a memory problem? I have not noticed this deterioration with other apps. How do I look up storage space total and unused?

Assuming ios 5 go to settings/ general / about
That will tell you your free space.

For specific app usage go to settings/ general / usage / show all apps

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

With regards to your question when an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it.
It's a good idea to close all these apps regularly as it helps the iPad run smoothly. Let us know how you go.

Sometimes you forget and have heaps open.
It really makes a difference to close the lot.
