Sometimes I will be reading or using the tablet. it seems to be just fine related to screen brightness but it may be I am used to viewing it....For some reason all of a sudden the brightness will maybe double.....It will get a LOT brighter back light. The ambient light has not changed. Everything seems as it was just a few seconds ago and the screen just gets brighter. Does yours do this and what might be the cause? Thanks.

Maybe your light sensor is being obstructed by your case, your finger or such. The light sensor is on the left side of the bezel if you're holding your iPad horizontal and your Home button is on your right side.

In Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper, is your Auto Brightness on? If so, and you obstruct your light sensor, or ambient light suddenly darkens, your iPad screen will brighten. If you don't like that, then turn off Auto Brightness.

If that's not your problem, then you probably have a hardware problem involving your light sensor.
