Hi, Why can I not open the email settings? Wien I tap on the email line, it just bounces back to the starting page.

If you have not done so, try the usual fixes.

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,
Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Thanks, I have tried resetting, rebooting etc., but I still can't open the settings for email, calendar, contacts. If it's an app that's giving me trouble, how do know which one? I have closed them all.

It would be the Settings app itself. It can be cleared from RAM just like any other app. However, if the reset did not work then clearing the app is probably not going to work either. Still, give it a try.

You said that those setting are bouncing you back to the home screen. If the previous fixes are not working usually a restore would be needed.

However, if it is just that the account lines are gray and don't allow you to select them, then you have probably turned off the ability to make account changes under Settings > General > Restrictions. You'll need the 4 digit code you used to set the restrictions in order to undo them.

In the end, I just deleted everything, rebooted and started as if it was a new iPad. I didn't use the backup copy and now I can access the email settings. Boring restoring everything, but it was worth it.
