Just recently Safari became Yahoo search engine . I did nothing to cause this. I changed it to Google and then I noticed my Yahoo Mail was saying I had incorrect password and can't accept any mail. So I,tried Gmail and it loaded but does not bring up my mail either. The Apps do bring up mail. I have Deleted the account. Gone to Safari and deleted history, cookies Data. No luck. It's only since Yahoo started acting as my search engine in Safari.

Any clues.?

Hi Niaholt,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you checked your settings? Go to settings > Safari > Search engine > select your default search engine from the list. Then, take things from there.

HTH.

Now, I suggest that one of the first things you do is to read the forum rules etc. Links to useful sections follow :-

Yes I had already changed the default search engine.. I just can't understand why it won't accept both Gmail and Yahoo.

Changing your search engine in Safari shouldn't affect your Mail accounts. It's (probably) a coincidence rather than a cause.

It sounds like you may have done this already, but the best way to fix problem mail account problems is (usually) to delete the account from Settings, and add it again. Yahoo has had problems with password rejection in the past. I'd thought it cleared up. When it happens it's usually a combination of deleting/re-adding the account and patience that fixes it.

No idea what's going on with GMail, unless you used to have it set up as Exchange. While the Exchange accounts already set up were grandfathered, any little thing can lose you that setup, and then you're stuck with IMAP or POP. The latter is not recommend.

Thank you. This whole thing corrected itself 12 hrs later. Can't believe what turmoil it created.
