Xxxxx's iPad (3), what does it mean?

hi all.

I have just returned to my iPad after a short break, and to cut a long story short, when I opened my iPad tethered to my PCI up came the name of the iPad 2 as:

xxxxx's iPad (3)

What does that (3) mean?
How can I find out why it did that?

Any ideas?

It probably appended the number because it thought this was your third device with the same name. No idea why it might think that.

You can edit the iPad's name under Settings > General > About > Name.

If you don't specify a name for the iPad it automatically gives it the name FirstName's iPad; using the name you used to sign up with your Apple ID account.

I did as you suggested and deleted the (3) and low and behold all was returned as it was before. Very biblical me thinks.
On that note, I shall support your beatification you when your time comes.
