When I go over to the house tonight I'll have to update my mom's iPhone 4 to iOS 5 for her. Otherwise, she "wouldn't bother". I know she's gonna love the new features though so I'm happy to do it. We have to sync it up in the office though, and she's attached to her iPhone at the hip. She might suffer separation anxiety while it downloads.

just isn't working for me. I connected iPad2 opened iTunes, clicked on help, clicked check for updates and got message that basically said I have the latest version of iTunes 10 that I downloaded last night. Then it started a sync but got error message that data could not be obtained and to try again later. Nothing about new OS.

Do I try again? Didn't see an option to choose my device. Had to search for the 'help' option which is actually under another heading.

Frustrating...really thought I knew how to do this, but obviously I don't!

My update was complete until my buddy called my phone. Anybody updating their iPhones airplane mode is recommended.

I got the "4.3 is the current version" message many times before 5.0 popped up for me. I'd shut down iTunes completely, re-open it, try it again. And continue to shut down and re-open iTunes until it works.

Stupid computer just crashed. I've been having problems with iTunec crashing things when dowloading. Hoped that the 10.5 update would fix it, but apparently not. So, my ugrade is now on indeffinit hold till I that.

Oh well, I think I'll just go back to sleep. (sigh)

Downloading now but i have a question....

I don't use the iTunes sync feature for my music/apps/videos. Instead whenever I connect to iTunes I transfer my purchases to iTunes and everything is listed there. Since this upgrade is deleting all the media on my ipad, will I be able to restore correctly?

The reason I don't sync apps is because I always download directly and I like to keep my screen order that is on my ipad. Maybe someone can suggest a better way to preserve my screen order.

On the left of screen is your iPad 2 name. Click on it and your iPad will come up. Click on the check for updates. It will begin with questions.
