I'm shivering, and to think I want to live in Canada for a couple of years - Brrr....
Sounds delicious!![]()
Burning off the protective oils of my new oven. It looks beautiful.
I'm a cold whimp. I want to only see snow in snow globes, lol.
I know right? Unfortunately, we have discovered that my saucepans aren't suitable for induction hobs! Sigh. Never rains but pours. Oh well, new saucepans coming on Wednesday.
Very nice looking oven Hayley......I was lucky when buying my induction cooktop, they had a bonus at the time of free saucepans. They are great cooktops and heat very fast, apparently faster than a gas one.......I learnt the hard way and burnt a few things before I got used to it :O
What kind of pots did you have to get, Leelai? I'm curious because we will probably be remodeling our kitchen and all appliances in the next several months.

The pots need to have a magnetic property.....so most pots with iron, cast iron are fine and so are most stainless steel. Manufacturers will include on the box if they work with an induction cooktop. I had a great set of saucepans and none worked as they had a copper base.....one of my daughters now has them in her glory box, I'm hoping her first cooktop isn't an induction one, or else they will be useless. So no aluminium, copper or even corningware will work. Have fun remodelling your kitchen, we did ours over 2 years ago now and were without one for over a month. Well it would have been quicker but our granite guys dropped a piece of our granite on the way in! :O
I see--well that's good to know then! Our posts and pans do have a copper finish on the outside. It was our wedding gift-and cooks really well. Maybe we won't be looking into that kind of stove top the !
A month would be just fine by me...our last home renovation took close to a year! So having to go with just a month seems like a really short time, however, hope no granite countertop drops here I hope!

If its just a layer of copper and mostly stainless they may work.....you could always take one to a showroom to try it. Ours had a thick layer of copper on the bottom of the pans. It really is the newest technology out there right now for cooking and is just so fast. Boiling water is faster on the cooktop than in the kettle. It's the sink that we missed when remodelling our kitchen.....we set up a bench for coffees, toast and the like but kept having to go to the laundry to wash up...it was such a pain! When we added a floor 5 years ago, it took us just under a year until we finished, so I know how you feel......a large part of our roof had to come off and we were looking at blue skies for quite a while before they built a temporary floor. We then changed all our light fittings, architraves, carpet and repainted the whole house inside and out. All that fine plaster dust drove me absolutely crazy! That wasn't our only granite drop either.....we built a bar at the same time which matches the kitchen....they measured it at first with some new fandangled laser and every piece had to be recut. Then while setting it up on our cabinets, the whole top collapsed and fell to the floor......which then put quite a few divots in our tiles, one of which was quite big and also scoured the front of the cabinets which then had to be replaced. We weren't very happy at all!

Our pans and pots have just a thin layer of copper with the inner layer of stainless steel...so maybe it will work. I guess we will decide when we get there!
We also dealt with part of our kitchen being constructed. Next to the kitchen we had a wall removed to add French doors to the outside. That was a joy, everything was literally under plastic. The dust was just everywhere. Every room except two were under reconstruction. It was a nightmare. No issues with granite dropping like your situation, but ordering mix up on cabinets, a bathtub and final inspections were all part of the hold ups. Yeesh---just don't want to go there anymore. Things as simple as accidentally removing the spec sheet on windows were denied by the home inspectors. It was just an ordeal, however, in the end it paid off for a beautiful addition.
As far as the kitchen--would love white cabinets, light granite, stain steel appliances, and hardwood floors (or the like of it). Hopefully we can begin sometime early in the Spring!
