What's new

What are you guys doing right NOW??? ;)

suffering with a blasted head cold that I am certain I got on the planes I recently flew on.The temp out side has warmed and so the sun is hiding behind our more typically cloudy skies.I miss the sun already.

Wow. OB I was just going to say use a magnet. Yes, we bought Tefal induction saucepans and frying pans. £135 later! Oh well, I've got a new set coming now. I came home to shortbread Xmas shapes and jam tarts made by my daughter. She says it is much faster than the old one. The grill toasted much faster too. I will let you know how the hob is when the pots arrive. I must say having no dials just a touchpad is so lovely. I had my kitchen done 13 years ago. I have to still buy new doors where they were burnt.

A quick way to check suitability for induction is to grab a fridge magnet. If it sticks to the pots and pans you're good to go. Once you have experienced induction cooking, you wouldn't want to change. What I like is that you can place a tea towel quite close to cover the rest of the surface for splashes; there's no heat near the pot. And it's so easy, and accurate, to get the degree of temperature right. Andrew Sent from Oz using Tapatalk

That's great advice you've given Andrew. Thank you for the helpful tip, I remember that when we begin our shopping adventure! :)

Tefal coating on induction cookware is a great way to go. We recently bought a teflon coated wok and love it.
There you go again Hayley! With the shortbreads and jam tarts. You are cruelty personified, as I'm hungry now:)
That kitchen of yours is going to turn out fabulous!

Certainly consider an induction system, ski, it's a modern and efficient way of cooking. Shopping...I hate it! Even for myself. For some obscure reason my missus revels in it. My idea of purgatory would be to, every day, have to accompany her to a department store, and sit in that inevitably solitary chair in a lingerie or similar department, and wait until the conclusion of all transactions;)

I'm living with the frustration of knowing how to shuffle a playlist order for burning to DVD in iTunes 10.7, but experimenting with methods in 11. I may have it, but don't want to jinx the process. I'm making theme DVDs for the road (Blues, Jazz, Classical, Standards, New Wave/Alternative and what I like to call Obnoxious Rock). I have a 6 DVD/CD player and I'll have about 300 hours of music standing by. I just don't want the DVDs to be sorted by artist, album or song name so I get some variety from song to song.

Coming in late Dianne... Hope you are feeling better.:) It's a funny thing about travelling (well, maybe not so funny) you tend to somehow get immune to those horribles floating around in the air in your own area or state, but when you travel you can more easily pick up germs and viruses from new areas. Get well soon!

Ok. Going out on a limb here, but other than feeling like you're not getting your money out of the 6 CD/DVD changer, why not just use your iOS device to sync and shuffle the playlist(s)? I'm betting your system has an auxiliary input somewhere.

With the bonus that you can just tell Siri "Shuffle my (playlist)", handsfree.

I did want to use the phone (4S) plugged into my aux jack, but I can't charge it while I do - I get a whine if I'm plugged into the lighter or aux power port. Seems I have a slight grounding issue and I cannot locate it (hard with the CAN bus and so many control modules, even the radio is controlled through the network by the main module).

I did figure a way, though, to shuffle a list to burn. Create a playlist, create a smart playlist from the playlist with the number of tunes set at the number of songs in the list then and import random. Now, inside the smartlist click the shuffle icon at the top (normally only shuffles play - not actual tracks) then click on the first column header (no name, but above the sequential numbers) and the songs will switch to random (as random as iTunes gets) order. Now right click the playlist (the smart one) at the bottom left and select "copy to play order". All that's left is to put in your blank media and right click again and select "Burn playlist to disc"

Whew....

You just blew my mind. I thought I knew iTunes, but I'd have spent weeks before working that sequence out. :)

Glad you found a solution, but, wow.
