Just got this photo from a good friend in Edmonton. First he had to find his car by digging it out...now he is trying to get warm without too much exhaust and enough heat inside the car! You can read the temp outside on his speedometer!

Yowza. Remind him to make sure his tailpipe is uncovered. I read about some poor family, who while dad was digging out the car, had son go inside their car to get out of the cold, but son died because car filled with exhaust because snow covered the tailpipe.

I don't know how people live with such weather. I moan if it snows for a few days.

Just lost at Yahtzee 6 time in a row. Lost my temper and delete the game, forever. Well, probably forever.

I'm not sure how it's played, but can you just pick competitors who are just worse at it than you are, to give yourself a fighting chance?

I read a story about the guy who's in charge of The New York Times crossword, and he said part of the trick was making it hard enough to be fun, but not too hard, because that would just frustrate people.

While the official Yahtzee game does have several competitors, you can't choose which one you'll play. It's random. Which is ok, because outside of the story line it doesn't seem to make a difference. Or not much of one.

Anyway, streaks of bad luck are inevitable. Yahtzee is a dice game that involves rolling for scoring combinations. Like poker, there is some skill in figuring the odds and getting the most out of what you are dealt, but there is no beating the game when you getting all bad rolls and/or the other play gets only good ones. You can't even try bluffing.

I did not think the game was being unfair, or was unbeatable. Well, I not after I cooled down anyway. I deleted it because I was loosing my temper. This is a personal problem I have with games that depend heavily on luck. I like to win, and when the game 'seems' to be making that not just difficult but impossible, and in an unfair way, I can get become too emotionally involved in those random rolls.

Then it's time to quit.

Besides, the dog was looking at me as if I'd gone crazy.
