very low sound on new recordings

hi, ipad working fine, sound volume is fine except on new video recordings, on which it can be heard very faintly if you hold it against your ear , have done a reset but no change, probably something stupid but any help appreciated thanks

Did you check the microphone on the iPad to make sure there's nothing plugging the opening? Does Siri work? If the microphone is plugged, Siri may not hear what you're saying.

thank you, that makes sense, it was working fine til my granddaughter got her hands on it would there be a recommended method of cleaning it or should i start looking for an external mic ? thanks again for your help

You want to be very careful about sticking things in the microphone opening in case you damage the microphone. If a visual inspection shows something plugging the opening you may want to consider the techs at an Apple Store Genius Bar to help you.
