Unable to enter passcode

since installing the latest update iOS7 point something I am unable to unlock my ipad. I had installed iOS7 and had a passcode. I had stopped having to use the passcode through the settings. Since the update it is asking for a passcode. When I enter the passcode I had it is not recognised. I have shut down the ipad and rebooted. Please help

The best solution is to restore your iPad:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414

If you're asked for the passcode in the process, ignore it. When you setup your device after restoring, you should be able to decide to skip passcode lock, if you prefer it that way.

On top of this, you may need to place the device into DFU, if not, it'll ask you to first unlock the device before it can proceed.
