Trouble transferring video files from my iPad to PC

I have an iPad3 and up until now I've never had trouble transferring video that I shot with the camera to my PC.

It is upgraded to OS 6 that's the only change that I've made since the last time I recorded and transferred video.

Anyway, when I drag and drop the files they transfer over but then they don't play from my PC. When I open in quicktime the player opens to at least 4 times the size of my monitor, I have to drag it over to click to scale it down. And only the sound plays, no picture at all.
When I open it in realplayer, there's no size issue, but again it's only sound and no video.

They play flawlessly on my ipad, I just can't seem to get them to play on my PC.

I un and reinstalled quicktime thinking maybe that was the problem....nope. Same thing. I've rebooted my ipad and pc multiple times.

It's quite a few videos from an unrepeatable event so I'll be furious if there ends up being no way for me to work this out.

I hope someone can help me out here.

As a quick fix try VLC. If anything can play them, that will.

I will have to try to replicate the issue, although I am using an iPad 2. I'll try my iPhone 4 as well, as I use it more for shooting as it has the better camera.
