What's new

Thinking about going from 5.1.1 to 7.04. Is this a bad idea?

The ipad 3 is JB. If I upgrade to 7.0.4 will I lose all my layouts of the 4 pages of icons or any of the apps?
i.e. I have Safety P+V, photomgrpro and photovault all with password protected portfolios? Will all these still be the same with the contant after the update?
Those apps were all bought through the apple store.
TIA

Since you are talking about a jailbroken iPad, I've moved your post to the IPad Hacking forum, where it will receive more attention.

I backed up, updated, jail broke, then restore d my ipad 3 running 5.1.1. I don't have those apps in particular but all my apps were restored fine. Working like I never touched them.

Be aware your ipad will feel more sluggish and laggy. It's not terrible, but it is slower and scrolling is more laggy. Using the noslowanimations tweak will help.

You have to decide if there are ios 7 features and apps you want that will make taking a hit in performance worth it. You will NOT be able to go back.

The issue is I need OS6 to run a nikon camera app. I probably have the blobs in Cydia should I try to go to 6 instead? Will it restore the same way. Is the Ipad air just as laggy with 7?

I'm afraid that it doesn't matter if you have blobs or not, you can't selectively update your iPad to iOS 6. Your only choices are to stay where you are or update to iOS 7.0.4.
