Beautiful state of Alaska!
I'm pleased to be among such knowledgeable and friendly people.
I'm a long time devoted Mac user who is extremely tech challenged so please be patient with me.
I realize that many of my questions will appear primary to most but that's where i am and that's the reason I'm here.
Received iPad Dec 2010 or 2011 and have enjoyed until recently when it decided to constantly drop the wifi connection.
I cannot figure out why as my Mac Book Pro does not have this problem. I can be in the same room, directly in front of the router and still it drops the connection.
I would greatly appreciate any help, please in resolving this strange problem.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Try a reset of your router....if it doesn't have a reset tab, just pull the plug, wait a few seconds and then reconnect. Have a look also to see if there are any updates for your router available. These will be available to download on the net. Try those and see how you go....if no joy, let us know and we'll look at something else.

In the meantime, I've moved your thread to our Help Section where you will receive a better response.

Thx for speedy reply. Now, Which router? The one from internet provider or the apple router?
I warned that I'm indeed tech challenged . :(
I also cannot find my way around. You said you move me to help, thread, well I can't locate the help, thread and when I did after many searches, there was nothing there but my original comment, not the two replies that show here. I don't know how to navigate around
here. What are I doing wrong that causes me not to be able to find info that's been moved from here???

Thx. Having trouble finding my w around. ;(
Hi, and a welcome from me as well! :)

If you access iPF through a browser, tap "My posts", and then "My threads":

This should lead you to the thread you started with the replies.

It's easier, if you use the app (leelai gave you the tutorial and the link in her post). To view threads where you posted, simply tap "Subscribed":

This will show you all threads where you posted.

(These are mine.)
To view them and the answers, tap the thread.

Router:
With resetting the router, the device you got from your internet provider was meant.

Yesterday, my WIFI also dropped for about 2 hours. I just turned my router off, and let it rest until it's not hot anymore. When I turned it on, my iPad started to connect :)

No luck yet.
I don't understand how i can maintain wifi connect to check and answer email but cannot surf the internet.
At one point I could even maintain wifi connect while on you tube but not any more. This is driving me crazy.
I unplugged the router but that didn't help at all.
Whats next? Is there any hope?

There's always hope....:)

Did you have a look to see if there were any updates available for your router? Go to the Manufacturers site on the net and do a search for updates for your model Router, they may even have a downloads or update tab to look at.

If no joy there then have a look at this link

I don't own the Internet router.
The router is from the cable company so there are no updates for me to check.

Sent from my iPad using iPF

I had one of those years ago and always had trouble.....it was a very cheap router, so I bought my own. Which may not be the same case for you.
Try the tips they have in that link I posted....if still no joy, you may have to get in touch with your Provider about that router.....they may do updates automatically but I don't know about that.
