Split keyboard

Is there a way to keep the keyboard split regardless of location on the iPad screen?

Once you split the keyboard it stays split no matter how the screen is rotated.This applies whether or not the split screen is docked or undocked.

If you drag the split screen to the bottom of the screen it always reconnects.
What I would like to avoid is the ability of the split screen reconnecting at all.

You can split the keyboard in the docked position or you can split it in the undocked position. If you dock a split keyboard by using the dock button at the lower right of the keyboard it will dock and merge.There is no way to dock an undocked split keyboard without it merging.You have to split the keyboard again after it is docked.
Jail breaking may help you keep the keyboard split but you should ask on the jailbreak forum if it's possible.
