Sorting in Pages and Numbers?

I bought Pages when I received my iPad on the advice of a friend. I've been playing with it but can't figure out how to sort a table alphabetically. Is it possible to do that? If I can't do it in Pages, is it possible to do it in a Numbers spreadsheet?

Sorting in Numbers

1) Select the column you want to sort on. To do this tap just above the title and the whole column will be selected.

2) pause and tap again on the selection box. This will bring up a menu of actions for the column.

3) select "sort"

4) select "ascending" or "descending"

5) all rows will be sorted accordingly
