Should downloading a movie take this long?

Hi im a newbie iPad owner and am trying to download my first movie (a rental) from itunes and it's taking ages - it's been 8 hours already and it's still less than a third downloaded, surely this can't be right?! I realise a lot depends on my wifi, which isn't the fastest but is pretty good, music and podcasts have downloaded almost instantaneously.
Any advice welcome!

8 hours is long time but movies are pretty large files. i have 5/20 service (20MB down) and it took me overnight to download one movie. worked well on the plane though. i only did that one movie thru apple. i use netflix now. used to work on planes with wifi but it seems now they have blocked netfilx (at least on airtran)
