Hi
When I open the iPad and have it upright (in portrait) and turn it horizontal (in landscape) the display screen won't rotate to show as landscape. And yet when you actually go into the app e.g. Emails they will show in landscape.
I have changed nothing and this only happened about 30 minutes ago.
I have checked settings and ll seem okay.
It is only the initial display screen that won't go to landscape.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Merry Xmas to all.
Stef

Did you check the position of the switch above the volume buttons on the side of the iPad? Try changing its position and see if that helps.

Thanks for this idea, but it did not work in any position.
By the way it's an IPad 2

Have you tried swiping up from the bottom of the display to reveal the control centre. Is the rotation lock icon illuminated? If so, tap it to turn it off and see if that makes a difference.

Tried it and again no luck.
But thanks.

Well, since the usual 'fixes' seem not to apply or to work, have you also 'Reset' the iPad? If not, then hold both the ON-OFF & HOME buttons down until the Apple logo appears, release the buttons and allow the iPad to reboot - good luck. Dave :)

Cheers Giradman this worked a treat. Happy New Year and to the others that tried to help.
