Printing from IPad 2 without airprint or internet connection

Does anyone know how to print from the IPad 2 to a printer without airprint printers or an internet connection? I am in remote areas where internet is not always available. I also have a nice little Canon portable printer but it is not an airprint printer. I find it unbelievable that this would be so difficult. No one seems to have a solution. HELP!!!

Is there any wifi network there? Even with an AirPrint printer, you need a network. Canon do have print assist apps that work with some of their printers, but they need to be used in association with a wifi network.

There is wi-fi available most times. I will check with Canon to see if my printer works.
