Playboy Launches iPad App, Minus Centerfold

PaidContent reports today that Playboy has released its iPad app to the App Store. The app costs a reasonable $2.99/£1.79, but before you get too excited, bear (bare?) in mind that Playboy is still subject to Apple’s anti-nudity policy, as per the great purge of all naughty apps earlier this year, which means there will be no centerfold, and no nudity, although a fetching bikini or nice bra is okay, apparently. There’s even a rather mournful note at the end of the app description on the iPad App Store saying “This app does not contain any fully nude contentâ€, just in case you were in any doubt. But no need to be downhearted, the app does after all bring you the Playmate’s intro text, data sheet, and a behind-the-scenes video, not to mention free Rabbit Head wallpaper, as well as those all-important features and articles that are most people’s main reason for buying Playboy (cough), so that’s okay then.

Playboy is available on Zinio. Would that be the reason behind some iPads overheating? Now I see why Apple would want to control that...:p
