Friend of mine is having a problem with her IPad 2. It is not responding to her touch. If she is trying to move
a letter it is very slow in moving. Shel is playing words with friends, but it is happening with every thing she does.
Is there anything she can do to fix this? She tried shutting t off with the home button and the one on top.

Thanks

Hello - appears that your friend has tried to 'Reset' the iPad - below is the proper method, so please make sure that the events described occurred - might be worth another try? If done correctly and still not effective then please post back here - Dave :)

Reset - press & hold the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears - this may take a longer time, so have patience; the iPad will 're-boot' - NOTE that none of these maneuvers will alter your apps, files, or settings.

It didn't work. She said that it is freezing up, even the keyboard. She didn't upgrade, could that have something
to with it?

When she reset it did she swipe the red slider? Or did she continue to hold the buttons until it shut down? The first is not a reset, but a power down the second (takes longer to initiate) is the reset.

As mentioned in the first quoted post above, again make sure that your friend is indeed doing a proper 'Reset' - assume the iOS on the device is 6.x - not upgrading to the newest iOS (i.e. 7.0.2) is not likely an explanation (unless an attempt was made and failed - if so, please provide further information).

Also, I'm assuming that the iPad's battery is fully charged? If so, then this Apple Support Article may help - the next steps suggested would be: 1) Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset) and if not helpful, then 2) Restore from an iTunes connection (make sure that iTunes is updated, especially in an iOS upgrade is to be tried). The final step mentioned is 'Forcing into Recovery Mode' (called DFU) - actually there is an excellent guide on the forum (don't have the link at my finger tips @ the moment, sorry). Of course, if these last steps are too intimidating, then a visit to an Apple Store or an authorized Apple Servicer might be your best option - good luck and please keep us posted. Dave :)

Thanks for all your answers. She didn't shut it down the right way. She will give it a try. If that doesn't work, she will
be visiting her children and hopefully they can help her.

By the way, this such a nice board, every body is very helpful and nice.

Again thanks

Amy
