The processor families used in all of the iPad models capable of running IOS6 do not have a known bootrom exploit, therefore the development of an untethered jailbreak for IOS6 these devices is a complex process requiring multiple userland exploits. Since there is no bootrom exploit, a tethered jailbreak will not be available for these devices as things stand. It is understood however that jailbreak developers are investigating decryption of the bootroms on all these devices
The first public jailbreak for IOS6 (evasi0n) has taken 4 months and 2 weeks since the firmware was released by Apple. For reference, it took a period of 11 weeks following release of the iPad3 for it to be jailbroken on 5.1.1, and it took a period of just under 4 months following release of the iPad2 for it to be jailbroken on 4.3.3! Despite this being the longest wait for a jailbreak yet, it is still only slightly longer that the wait for the first iPad2 jailbreak
