No volume while charging

I bought a new charging cable for my ipad2 from an aftermarket internet company! It charges well but I can't near any
Sound until,I unplug it! The original Apple charging chord allowed me to listen while charging! Is it because I bought a cheap charging cable and not the original Apple one! Thanks

Maybe.

The 30 pin connector has audio out pins. If the charging cable is shorting them, so it looks like a speaker is attached, then the audio from the built in speaker will be turned off.

Hi Joe.... - I think that our iPad Guru, Twerppoet, has the explanation. As you likely know, there are a number of AV adapters for the 30-pin docking station of the earlier iPads - I have one that uses an HDMI adapter which will output sound - so looked for a diagram (attached) that might show the purpose of each pin - audio is carried out on several of the lower numbered pins (which as already stated will mute the sound from the iPad speakers) - the important message here is to buy 'quality' accessories for your iDevices - saving a few bucks might not be the best solution - just saying.
