I just got my iPad and I have already joined the ranks of those with wifi connection issues. Is the a thread that I can subscribe to that will be updated when this issue is finally resolved? Thanks.

Gotta be frustrating. Why not explain the problem with a bit of detail so one of the experts here can help resolve the problem. For a start, iPad 1 or 2?

I have an iPad2 with wifi and 3G. It connects when I start it up but it loses connectivity after a short period of time. If I'm streaming something, I don't lose connection, but if my Internet activity is idle for any period of time, I have to turn Airplane Mode on and off to reestablish my connection. As far as the suggested troubleshooting steps I've found so far go, I've updated my router's firmware, turned off auto brightness and can't figure out how to change my router settings from DHCP to static IP settings. Any ideas?

One of our moderators suggested this...

This has resolved many issues and worth a try.

- Sometimes after you perform a upgrade from say iOS 3. to iOS 4.2 *the iPad or iPhone wifi or 3G speeds *may be slow.*
- This is an easy fix which does work. Please do the following:
-*
1. Go to Settings->General->Reset
2. Then select "Reset Network Settings" (this will not erase ur devices content, music, videos, email, etc. It will only erase any WiFi networks you have defined).
3. Once your device completes the action and gives you the normal home screen or Passcode screen, go ahead and power your device down and once you are sure the device is fully powered down wait an additional 60sec to allow internal components to fully discharge.
4. After the 60sec is up, power on your device again and re-add any encrypted WiFi networks you had defined.
5. Enjoy the "back to normal" WiFi and 3G speeds like you had prior to the OS upgrade.*

This did not work, unfortunately. My connection was restored for a few minutes, but then I lost it like before. How willI know when Apple comes up with a fix/update for this? It seems like a lot of people are having this issue.

Just some suggestions here - turn off Airplane mode and leave it off. It is for use if you are flying in an airplane - not here on the ground. Go to settings and make sure the WiFi is turned "on". Then it should show your wifi connection. There may be a password required for your WiFi connection. Enter that and hit connect. If you are just using the WiFi, you might want to be sure the 3G is off so it does not compete for the connection. Just a suggestion. My iPhone has both enabled, but I never have any problems. My iPad 2 is WiFi only. Hope this helps. If not, you might try the apple website, iPad section and then support.

I've done all these things. My iPad is not in airplane mode--I simply use airplane mode to manually renew my DHCP connection. Everything else is turned on and enabled. As far as I can tell, this is a software issue and needs to be addressed by Apple. I just updated my iPad firmware today through an iTunes synch, but that didn't help either.
