According to a new investor memo from Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang via AppleInsider, the rumoured forthcoming iPad Pro models with Face ID is about to enter mass production, prior to a June quarter release.
Zhang says that he expects Apple to ship from 6 to 8 million units of the new 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros in the June quarter.
Recently news emerged that Apple had the necessary international regulatory paperwork for two new iPad Pro models, hinting that a release was imminent, so Zhang’s projections support this, although given the date of the regulatory filings, it was thought that the new iPad Pros would actually be here a little sooner than Zhang is stating.
While very little else is known about these forthcoming third-gen iPad Pros, it’s thought that they could have 8-core A11X processors, an increase of two from the 6-core A11 chips that can be found in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. It’s not thought that the new iPad Pros will have edge-to-edge OLED displays, as this would be incredibly costly and difficult to source and manufacture.
