Mail application not working on New IPAD 2 13,8 GB VERSIE 5.0.1 (9A405) Model

Hello everyone,

We just bought a new ipad and it is working great but the mail application is not working.
Everytime when i click on mail it gives me the message - the mail cannot be picked up - username or password is incorrect -
When i click setttings to change any of these settings...the mail menu closes down....
tried this several times can t seem to get it rights...
Any suggestions are well appreciated.....

Try resetting the Settings app. Go to the Home screen.

Double press the Home button to open the multi-task bar.

Press and hold any icon in the multi-task bar until they all start to jiggle.

Now touch the upper left hand corner of the Settings app to completely close it.

Now press the Home button again to close the multi-task bar and see if the problem persists.

If it does, get back to us and we'll try some different ideas....

I have recently changed the password for my Gmail. Now when I want to see my mail and press on mail it gives me message that the password is incorrect. I tried to reset the mail through the home page as Tim suggested but still have this problem. How I can change the password in the mail application???? Thanks.

Go to settings then - mail,contacts,calendars - then choose your mail account on the right of the screen, a box should open up where you can change details, including password. Good luck!
 
I also am having problems with my ipad 2. In settings when I tap mail, contacts, calendars it kicks me back to home screen. Please help !!
 
I was just going to ask the question as to why I have completely lost all my gmail and the "box" tells me I have the wrong password of user name. When going to settings, it is just fine and I have not lost Yahoo mail. I tried what Tim suggested and got everything is squiggle form but nothing happened when I touched the settings icon that was squiggling. Is there another solution? Thanks!
 
Give these steps a try

Do the four finger swipe up or double tap the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press one of these apps until they start to jiggle and red minus signs will appear above them all. Press all the minus signs, this will close them, not delete them. It's a good idea to do this regularly just to keep them all running smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now. if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When your iPad begins to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

Have had an iPod 4 for one year.
New IPad 2 added this week.
I use yahoo mail thru Rogers Canada. Set up on both devices worked for 3 days.
Now no access. Kees saying cannot find server, and/or asks for password....then sitits and spins saying verifying ... Followed by the dreaded message.

What's happening?

Can you tell us exactly what is happening for you, any error messages and so forth.
