"We understand that the yields on the display have been low and that they're creating a production bottleneck," Andrew Rassweiler from research and advisory analysts iSuppli told Bloomberg News.
"That they have been doing it for the iPhone for some time is great, but once you go to 9.7in, it is a much more complicated process."

The 9.7in screen is produced by South Korea's LG Display and Samsung Electronics and by Japan's Seiko Epson, according to iSuppli.
Both Apple and Samsung declined to comment, while LG and Seiko didn't respond to requests for comment Bloomberg said.
Apple's iPad won't be available until an unspecified date next month in the UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland.

Unexpected high demand for a new concept product is going to show where the bottlenecks are. Every manufacturer has backup plans for better or worse sales. The problem with high demands is that it can require investment in new equipment and personnel that may not be needed when it is ready.

True - but also legislation and regulation are an issue. Here in Europe the carriers are fighting hard about the license to sell iPad 3G.

T-Mobile is a very strong and strict player here. Vodafone likes to overcome them, but are struggling.

Interesting enough, just two smaller VMNOs (virtual mobile network operators) have Microsims already in their portfolio. And they offer both a similar and cheap dataplan.
