Im afraid to say that iPads are not the best in the sunlight as your probably aware, and so far I have not found anything that will make it any better either, the only thing I used to solve this problem was when I used the official Apple iPad case with the flip cover. I held the flip cover over the iPad screen as a sun visor which allowed me to read the screen but this does become a pain after a while.
