Well, if this is about iTunes Tips, I would like to share the steps I followed in order to come up with a sort of "neat" music database, as I got bored of listening my music with Winamp and using iTunes just to "send" music to mi iPhone. I hope this helps...
- I used the search tool (I'm on a Windows 7 Laptop) to find all my music and moved it all to the Music folder (where my iTunes folder is). Tried to keep all music sorted by Band/Musician (each of them on one folder, it is up to you)
- On iTunes i went to Edit, Preferences..., General
- Selected "Import Settings..."
- Selected "Import Using: MP3 Encoder" with a "Setting: High Quality (160 kbps)" (Here you can chose the combination you prefer, "AAC" and "iTunes Plus" is the default combination)
- Hit "Ok" twice
- On iTunes now we go to File, Add File to Library
- We go to the folder where we have our music and in the search tool we look for: *.wma
- Select them all and click on Open; iTunes will start converting all selected WMAs into MP3s
- When the process stopped, I decided to go back to Windows Search Tool, looked for all WMAs and deleted them, as I already had a copy on MP3
With this process now I have all my music in MP3 format, included in iTunes. It is not the perfect process, but it worked for me, so as long as it provides some help, advice or ideas, I'm happy.
