is there a way to stop/ edit auto correct?

it keeps auto correcting some items i don't want it to - is there a way to edit or skip for certain words. thank you

thanks for the quick response- i'll try adding those words to my contacts. trouble is i have i a couple similar user names for websites and it keeps trying to pick one for me - of course not the correct one. i'll add the second user name to my contacts and see if that works- i assume it'll give me either user name as an option?? thanks again!
