Is HD worth paying the extra money for viewing on the iPad?

With the 9.7 screen, does DVD look just as good as the HD since it is a small screen?

Is the sound a lot better too? I know it is on a major sound system but with the small speakers on the Ipad, is it worth it?

Another question, will using high quality headphones or earbuds make the sound difference worth it?

If the original source is good then the quality will transfer to the iPad. Ear-buds make a big difference over the iPad's internal speakers.
