Ipad switching on its own

Does anyone no why my ipad is switching itself on when I'm shut it down? I hold the lock button at top of the ipad then slide the bar across it shuts off for few seconds then the apple comes up and ipad back on. Helpppp

Try just pressing and releasing the button on the top edge.

Sounds like what you are doing is a reset.
