Hi

My daughter has an O2 SIM and I just purchased a three SIM but neither work in my iPad! It just says SIM failure and no service in top right hand corner! The iPad was second hand, am I missing something? Please can someone help

Your iPad might be locked. Some sellers buy locked iPads on contract (at discounted price) and resell them to unsuspecting people. I'd take the iPad to an O2 store and see if they can tell if it's one of theirs, or try another carrier's SIM card, like if you know someone with one that's working or pop by a carrier store and have them check for you.

I've just put a new sim in my iPad also and it first needed to be activated which took over a day depending on how busy they are. Get it touch with the carrier about this also after you find out whether your iPad is locked or not.

Thanks for your help! The iPad is locked and I have paid £20 to Vodafone to have this unlocked, but it can take up to 48 hours so again I am waiting..... Fingers crossed this works!!!

That's good. Hope it works. Some customers have had probs with Vodafone (or O2+Vodafone now that they're merging).

If it doesn't work: It's supposed to help if you join the Vodafone online forum and complain. And you also can complain to OFCOM.
