iOS no widgets

I say this in the most backward thing about iOS. Have anything else you look at the screen, you can have a widget showing the local weather, stocks prices, messaging, maybe a clock etc.. With iOS you need to physically open applications to get the information

There was an app that allowed you to run MAC widgets but it was rejected buy apple and not allowed in the app store.

You can however download it if you have a jailbroken iPad. The app is called Dashboard.

The nice thing about widgets would be being able to have a calculator floating around.

Dashboard app is horrible and doesn't support any third party widgets...so it's useless and understandable that it w rejected.

We still haven't seen ios4 for iPad...

True but it is out and there is no reason why iOS for iPAD will be different.
