If you go to the "other" forum you will see that James Porter deleted my post despite the fact that he asked people to start a dialogue. I had the feeling that he might remove the post because he doesn't seem to react well to any sort of criticism. However, I don't wish to let it appear as though I said something that was not true or something that was disrespectful. I had written to him privately quite a few times, but the only time he answered me was to say that they "are trying our best to keep up with demand, problems, customer service, hint requests, forum requests, apple rule changes, and website, especially while having a family and full time job." He went on to say that "this was now a project of love…although the love is fading." Anyway, what follows is the email I wrote verbatim.
What you need to do is learn how to program, stop taking bad advice and read and respond to your emails.
I gave you the specific address where you could get free publicity and you never even took my emails out of my outbox so I removed them myself. I told you months ago my iphone music app wouldn't even open and it still won't but I solved them on my iPad long ago.
If you ever create more levels, do not use them as an add-on to the program because no-one will be able to find them, let alone review them, except the people who already own the program. This was not smart but I saw a reviewer suggest you do that. It is also clear to me that you will probably only make pocket change if you sell hints or skips. The minute you give out a hint everyone will solve the puzzle because you were successful in creating a community which is alive and well albeit on another site.
The only reason you have any activity here at all is because you had to go to Ipadforums.net (where the hint for number 79 can easily be found) and attract attention.
I honestly hope this does not sound harsh but I have written you privately many times and removed all the emails because you were taking a "break" from responding and in so doing I felt you were being insulting to all of those who really responded to your program in the beginning. I have never heard of a developer who did this and I really didn't appreciate it.
So that was the entire email which was deleted.
UPDATE: I went to the VB website just moments ago and saw that my post was deleted. The only thing that remained was a post in the message area that said "DELETED POST [thanks for the "advice" bonnie. you won't mind if i go ahead and delete your post right?]
I came directly here and wrote this post. After I did that I checked my email and saw that my account which was perfectly active when I wrote the email this evening was apparently deactivated, too.
To be clear, someone deactivated my account at the other board. What I have in my mailbox is a not a notice of deactivation, it is a statement which says my account is inactive and I should take steps to re-activate it. Giving the developer the benefit of the doubt because he really does not have a background in either programming or blog/bulletin board administration I honestly think he was so annoyed with this email of mine that he accidentally deactivated the account and does not know how to fix it. I really don't care because he obviously doesn't want any more advice from me so I have no plans to re-activate anything.
