Help about selling my ipad mini abroad!!!

Hi, I have a contract with Vodafone for my Ipad Mini but, cause I need some money I was thinking to sell it abroad so when I'll go to report it as lost or stolen they will replace it for free.
What I want to know is: do I have to unlock/change IMEI of the Ipad before selling it abroad just in case it will get blocked?
