I'm MargretRose. I live in Colorado, and am 61 years old, and happily married. I just bought a refurbished first generation iPad on eBay, and registered for this forum when an internet search about JavaScript errors on the iPad suggested that there was a thread about that.
I'm a retired editor -- I used to work at Micro Cornucopia Magazine (back in the mid 1980s it was a very highly regarded publication for computer hobbyists -- about 50% DOS and about 50% CP/M, which most of you are probably too young to remember, and about 50% hardware and 50% software).
I had surgery a little over 2 years ago to remove a benign brain tumor which had apparently begun a decade or so before. (All gone now, and not coming back,
thank goodness.) As a result of the tumor I'm missing around a decade of memories, and have gone from being a knowledgeable computer geek to an almost total newbie. (You've heard of "dog years?" Well, in computer years, a decade is several generations. The last I remember, my modem worked through the phone lines, not WiFi.) As for Apples, I've never owned one, and the iPad is the first Apple product i've ever bought, so expect a lot of questions.
My hobbies are temari, tatting, and filk. (You can look them all up online. For filk, your best bet is YouTube.) The most major recent event in my life is the oral surgery I had on July first to remove all of my teeth and get new dentures (it's apalling what a decade of undiagnosed brain tumor will do to your teeth) -- so far the dentures don't fit properly, and can't be fixed for another week and a half or so, when I've thoroughly healed from the surgery. Once I can actually chew again, I'm planning to pack up the cat and drive to Oregon to visit my 96 year old mother for a few months.
I've been addicted to reading since childhood -- my favorites are S.F., fantasy, mysteries, and math books.
Oh, yes. And I'm a Unitarian Universalist, because U.U.s have no creed to which one has to agree, but rather believe that it's the job of a church to help each member find her own path and walk that path to the best of her ability.
I guess that pretty well covers who I am. On to the JavaScript search!
