This is a Rainbow Lorikeet, a beautiful bird which descends on our almond tree at about this time each year, in flocks of 20 or 30, and completely strips the tree of nuts. The first time it happened we rushed out with the camera to capture it on film. Now we squirt water at them with the hose. They just ruffle their feathers and preen!
