I started when the game first came out. I was stuck at level 50 for almost 2 mo. So I concentrated on selling everything thru my stand and accumulated a lot of coins. It's easy to buy stuff when you don't have to worry about price. I had enough money stored up that when the update came out I could buy everything. It's not hard to level up when you have all the machines going full tilt. Plus I dump the orders with big coins and run the orders with big stars.

Ah! I've used my diamonds to upgrade the machines. Although I quit when each asked for 12 diamonds. I have no boat yet. I think I will wait until I get all machines but the mining stuff. I'll get miner and smelters last. Doable? Boats ask for mine goods early on? Hoping by then I'll have plenty of coins to purchase if need be.

Best thing to use you diamonds on, I would go all the way on the sugar mill and the dairy as well as the feed mills. The boat has never asked for bars or jewelry. I think it's very smart that you wait to get all machines available to you before opening the boat dock, however it will help you level up faster once you have it. You can start loading crates on the boat as soon as it comes in, however if you start loading it you will not be able to send it off until you have fully loaded it or the time runs out. If you choose not to load it then you can send it away empty and wait for the next one.
