It's called wheating. Put up 1 piece of wheat for 1 coin, that way when the person. You're looking to sell to buys it, you'll see there name and will know they're at your farm.

When you wheat, put them up in the very far right stall...if on iPad, the far right and bottom. That way the trade will not be obvious to any passer by, and you'll have less chance of them being stolen. And always put the item up for trade in the box that you wheated. If someone is watching, they do not see the wheat taken, so they don't see the new item.... Unless they come in and out of your shop. Just some safety measures
