Forgive me for the question...but I actually thought you couldn't let a boat sail right away before the time runs out...can you? If yes, I am so dumb for not realizing this -.-
how do you do that? the sail button is grayed out until all boxes are filled...

Yes u can sail it right away. Just hit the boat symbol...it will ask you to confirm that you are letting the boat go away empty so hit confirm. And Bon voyage lol. Then another comes in 4 hours. I let boats go all the time because I have completed captain and they ask for ridiculous quantities of stuff.

Lmao I didn't know that I could trash board orders either until I was stuck (every ticket had something on it that I didn't have machine yet for) so don't feel "dumb". I am happy that I was able to teach you something today . And people will want to help you if u flag a box and you are making every effort to fill too. Anyways, hope that helped.

Sorry, but I never realized this feature of the boat, in fact in the past, before help signs were introduced I would just wait for the countdown all the time
well, this changes things a little now I guess. I apologize for misusing help signs then.
