There you guys go again what are Marie biscuits. We may have one like it so what is it like. You can have butter with it, so it's not a sugared biscuit. Hold on has it got a scalloped edge

Speaking of scalloped .....
Made Cider Scalloped Potato last night,
Was doubtful at first thinking it would be too sweet. But the smoked Gouda cheese in the sauce more than compensated for the cider which adds a zing to the flavour.

Thanks Hayles, it's nice to see what you guys are talking about. We don't have them here. There are shops opening up here that are British shops, they mostly have lots of different lollies and chocolates and that type of thing but last time I was in one they had some biscuits too. Next time I'll be sure to have a look.

I use these biscuits to make pudding crusts mixed with butter with filling on top. I suppose you'd call them fridge puddings, no cooking required. Any biscuit will do though.

I use our nice biscuits which are a normal biscuit but lightly sugared for cake bases too, great for a baked cheesecake base.

Exactly right. In my country too! The only thing I'm not a fan of are coconut biscuits the flavourings in them are too much for me. However I love coconuts. Especially the milk inside.

Spot on. Coconut interferes with the actual flavor of the cake too much. But I like desiccated coconut sprinkled on chocolate icing on patty cakes. Yes love coconuts, especially try to get them open, thats half the fun.

In south Africa you had people selling them in boxes on the side of the road with massive water melons. Yummy

We have the same thing here with melons and mangoes depends what areas but pineapples too. Do you have mangoes at all. I think I'm the only person I know who doesn't like them.

Easy peezy this one is.
Do ALL ingredients first.

Slice 3lbs Yukon Gold potatoes scallop thin.

Grate 1 cup Smoked Gouda cheese and 1 cup Swiss cheese. You can sub low fat Swiss if you like, but you only live once.

Pour 1 cup fresh apple cider and 1 cup low fat milk.

Pour 1/2 cup vegetable broth.

In small bowl mix a pinch of nutmeg and enough pepper to suit your taste.

Measure 2 teaspoons butter, 2 tablespoons flour.

Now you're ready to rock.

Per-heat oven to 215C / 425F

In sauce pan melt the butter, then sprinkle in the flour, blend. With heat still in whisk in milk til smooth then add cider and broth and pepper nutmeg mix.
Raise heat and bring to boil stirring constantly then take off heat.

In 17 x 11 oven dish layer half the potatoes. Sprinkle half these cheese on first layer then layer the rest of the potatoes on top. Pour entire milk/cider mixture over the potatoes and cheese and bake for 25 - 30 minute.

At 30 min., sprinkle rest of cheese on top and bake another 20 min.

Let stand 15-20 min and serve.

Enjoy.
