What's new

Food anyone?

I'm going to San Antonio.

Great, you'll be about an hour's drive from the Texas Barbecue Trail. I recommend Kreutz's, but I've tried all the restaurants on the trail at least once and they all have great 'cue.

I was in San Antonio two weeks ago. Love the Riverwalk and always return.

My hotel is right on the river walk, about 4 blocks from the Alamo.

I figured. Most people stay in the area when they're from out of town without family. Will you have a car? Texas has lots to see, but a car is key.

Sorry, no car. I'll be there for the World Science Fiction Convention.

Not too busy to try out the local restaurants.

Yes, Riverwalk has plenty. For down-home barbecue Texas style, the more distant little towns are the authentic stuff. You end up driving past the cows that end up as barbecue, lol.

Yogurt with granola, small-farm cheese that was a bit disappointing, and now fresh strawberries that lack flavor. Blah.

Let's see..I had a half sandwich, a gala apple and a small cinnabun bite! Oh...and tall glass of water.

Now to brush my teeth and get back to work!

There are so many good places to eat on the Riverwalk. I was there for a week a couple of years ago and the best way to do it is walk along enjoying the afternoon until you see one that says "I look interesting, stop in" the food will be good.

I've eaten at eight to 10 Riverwalk restaurants and most were fine, but nothing special. This one is one I'd revisit:

Boudro's on the Riverwalk - Riverwalk - San Antonio | Urbanspoon

Half the time I've been to Riverwalk, my company has paid for my meals, so I try a bunch. A lot of the restaurants at RW succeed because of atmosphere and booze, not because of great food.
