Favourites disappeared

My Favourites completely disappeared from my iPad. I thought they would come back as this has happened before. I tried closing the iPad down completely and all the normal remedies but no luck. Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

Have you tried going to Safari settings and checking that Show Favourites bar is On?

Have you tried a hard reset - that is holding the on/off switch plus the Home button together until the Apple logo appears and then letting go? The iPad will restart and hopefully your Favourites will be back.

Yes I've tried doing a hard reset. Tried again after your post . No luck

Now all my bookmarks seemed to have vanished.

How about force quitting Safari. Double tap the home button and you will see thumbnail views of the open Apps. Swipe the Safari one upwards to force it shut. Turn your iPad off for a minute. Then have another look at it.

Thanks ...just did that and got the bookmarks back.....Favourites didn't come back but at least I got the bookmarks back

In Settings - Safari - General - Favourites make sure you've selected Favourites. Also make sure there's no second Favourites folder without content.

Ok..have done that..Favourites selected..no second folder..have entered my Favourites again and will see what happens. Probably end up with doublers now. Thanks for your help

Most likely a termporary syncing problem with iCloud. Assuming you use iCloud to sync bookmarks.
