The thing I don’t get is, when I select all trash mails to be deleted, the delete option is not there. When I individually select each trash mail to delete,the delete option is there..maybe that’s the new update does.I don't know how you are set up now. but you must have over 50% battery power or it must be plugged in, otherwise it will just set there.
As you see in the photo, I select all, but the delete button is not there. If I select them one at a time, the delete button will be there.It’s still possible with iPadOS 13.
In the Trash/Bin folder, tap Edit at the top

Then select all

and confirm with “Delete All”

Thanks a lot for the great help, found it, and switched it to deleted-Take a look at your account settings (Settings - Passwords & Accounts - the email account) - go to Advanced and make sure your discarded messages are going to Deleted Mailbox:
