From Wikipedia:

The leap day was introduced as part of the Julian reform. The day following the Terminalia (February 23) was doubled, forming the "bis sextum"—literally 'double sixth', since February 24 was 'the sixth day before the Kalends of March' using Roman inclusive counting (March 1 was the 'first day'). Although exceptions exist, the first day of the bis sextum (February 24) was usually regarded as the intercalated or "bissextile" day since the third century.[SUP][1][/SUP] February 29 came to be regarded as the leap day when the Roman system of numbering days was replaced by sequential numbering in the late Middle Ages.

So I guess the question is, does the wizard calendar come from before or after the Middle Ages?

Fletch, you are assuming that most DV players (like us on this forum) are intelligent. Any business release for public consumption would have to play to the lowest common denominator which is people who would have no idea of the history of the leap year and think that the 29th is the extra day x

Everyone donates one gem, so there are 14 people atm, and I'll decide who has to give to who after the competitors list is finalised and we discover who wins.

I have no idea why you can't post in that other thread. It's exactly the same as this one. Can you reply there? What appears to be the problem?

Okay im in I figured out the problem. But as in donate as in we are wiling to give it to the winning person when they win right? Nd what if it comes down to a dragon that has the same breeding time hr as another dragon? How are we gonna determine who wins ghat since weve been taking pics of the caves? Or in that case do we send one while its in the cave so we know there not using 2 of the.same dragons and then again once there in the hatchery?

Ok, then I wasn't all out of track, talking about the 24th is the "real" leapday, and not 29th... See what some early school-lessons get stuck in the head..

Yep, you're just pledging to give one of your 3/6 daily gems to a person I choose.

The verification process is about me/other players visiting the island after the screen shot is posted to make sure the dragon is made from base parents. I'm sure verifying someone actually has a LYD won't be a problem this time, but in other games we're only choosing breeds that have their own breed time (so no scorch or firefly, for example).

Currently 16 competitors. 1st is 8 gems, 2nd is 5 gems, 3rd is 3 gems.

Does anyone know why?

We were wondering about this issue a while ago. The strange thing is that some people can see some signatures, but not others. so it's not simply a matter of one's settings displaying signatures or not.

I *think* I see them all, I do see yours.

No you were spot on. I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it, and figured the origin was bound to be on the interwebz somewhere. Thanks for teaching me something.
