OMG! I just put fire and water to breed fog, but I got a 2 hrs. Incubation and thought sh**did I just get another fire. Oh I'm happy as I have sandies breeding in the EBI and now I got air without trying. YAY!

Thanks Fletch! I've got all the shrines (except air) currently I have Plant and Fire to silver but all the others are still bronze,
Earth - 32/50
Lightning - 27/50
Water - 19/50
Cold - 16/50 (not going too great with the colds!)

I'm guessing it would be best to go half and half with mud and quake to boost the water and lightning numbers and worry about cold later!? I can hold 100 in my hibernation cave so that helps a bit.

(no doubt I'll manage to breed a sandstorm after this conversation!)

Lightning and Water are the only 2 that don't mix. That is where I got stuck. And I'm going to make a guess of the number of Air Dragons you have at about 12. So you need.

18 Earth
23 Lightning
31 Water
34 cold
38 Air

The great thing about air is that it breeds with all of them with an 8 hour rate (apart from the sandstorm, but we won't mention that **cough cough**). So optimal breeding to not double up ... You have 144 elements required, so 72 dragons is the minimum you will need to breed to have them all covered. You have 72 spots available in your HC? Like you say, let's start with half an half Mud and Quake. Quakes are better earners, but if you're just breeding them to put in the HC it doesn't really matter.

9 Quake - 6 hours
9 Mud - 6 hours

That will complete your Earth shrine and leave you with

14 Lightning
22 Water
34 cold
38 Air

14 Storms - 5 hours

This will finish off your Lightning shrine and leave you with

22 Water
20 Cold
38 Air

16 Snow - 8 hours

This will even up your numbers to

22 Water
4 Cold
22 Air

2 Ice/Iceberg
2 (more) snow
20 Fog

You can adjust these last breeding numbers when you get your Air Shrine and you know where you are, but the optimal breeding strategy (until a new multi element hybrid is released, lol) is

9 Quake - 6 hours
9 Mud - 6 hours - Earth is complete
14 Storms - 5 hours - Lightning is Complete
18 Snow - 8 hours
2 Ice/Iceberg - 8 hours - Cold is complete
20 Fog - 8 hours - Air/Water are complete

That makes 72 dragons. Hope that helps.

Short Update....

Well, the back is healing wonderfully. I can walk normally now and I'm walking 2 miles a day. Before the surgery I was able to walk 2-3 blocks, painfully and hunched over. Now I stand erect and I'm 3/4" taller.

So I'm starting my re-entry into the Real World. I have a staff meeting in the office today. Hospital bed is moving out. I will probably participate less (I thought I heard a collective sigh of relief!), but I'll be around.

With all sincerity this group has been a life support system for me during this period that has had its share of difficulty and challenges. I wrapped myself in a cocoon and excluded just about everything else (I tend to be a bit autistic when faced with this kind of challenge). As I posted several weeks ago, this is the nicest, kindest online community that I've ever been part of. I love you guys.

So, I just thought I would let you guys no first, that I have a rainbow on the way hopefully. Second, I am sorry I have been gone for over a hundred pages. I am a busy body with school. And last but certainly not least, thank you everybody for the gems you have been sending! I am actually saving now which is odd for my usual lack of patience! I hope everyone is leveling up and getting breeds and shrines done! I am almost at my first silver shrine with the plant. Thanks hun! I feel just a bit better but still fever and stuffy nose etc. It's season in Florida so unfortunately all the northerners come here to escape the cold weather and we get hit with everything. I managed to go to the store today and will try to do some laundry tomorrow...little by little nd one day at a time.

Well my fire and cold island are done it wasnt as good as the other 2 bc I was using objects that werent 1x1 but I didnt think the xmas trees were 2x2 I thought they were 1x1 so kinda messed up my plan but its still not that bad.

Seeking Advice

I don't why I care, but my visitor count which used to always be around 200 is now hovering around 100. I checked the portals on each island trying to determine a correlation between how many dragons on that island and how much traffic. My Nursery Island is teeming with (low level) dragons and it's also teeming with visitors. Other islands kind of OK. I moved an Earth habitat from the Nurture (where the breeding cave and incubator is) to the Colesseum Island in order to have at least one habitat there. Of course it's inhabited by Air and Sandstorm dragons which are always breeding and never home (they breed like rabbits). Don't know if that made any difference.

The one that stumps me is the Nurture Island. Lots of visitors show up but the majority of melt away rather than walk away. I added a Sun on that island to spice things up - really like the look - but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Anyone know why the visitors fail to complete their appearance?

Fletch, I took another look at your Maze Island and I notice that your visitors rarely fail to materialize. Someone told one time that they really like paths, but that's obviously not the case with your a-maze-ing island (sorry, I have to do that every time).

As has been mentioned, I think the visitors like it when you make changes. They come back to check out how things look now. My last lot of changes where I revamped most of my islands I got visitors up to 192. Now they're 56.
