Some Advice Re Lightening & Plant Gold Shrines

As I have mentioned here before, when I first started on my Lightening gold shrine I made the decision to level up using Lightening as opposed to using Loves, which contain Lightening plus Plant habitats. That was the right decision at the time as my site was hyper-productive, having robbed habitats from Nursery Island. Plus I wasn't sleeping well in this post-op mode so I could collect coins constantly.

When I reached 35/50 things changed. I decided to restore my Nursery Island which reduced my productivity. And I started sleeping at night. At that point I switched to Loves. Now I kind of wish I had done it sooner. It takes more to breed Loves, but I let that happen overnight. The double credit has a lot of value as most of the work and resources go into the leveling up.

If I had it to do over again, I would use Loves from the beginning. And I think folks with normal lives are much better served with the Loves.

FWIW,
Poppy

I agree Poppy! I wish I would of switched from fogs to panlong as soon as I got my second panlong. Lesson learned. Here comes the reverse psychology again though lol. I'm in no hurry to finish the game so I guess no biggie. Haha. Good thing is I can bank up some food while I wait for my panlongs to breed. So Love's it is!

Excuse me? What am seeing here? Didn't we already "discuss" this whole waking up multiple times a night to check on/cash your dragons issue?! Hmmmmm??!! Not taking care of yourself will NOT be tolerated!
It seems you have a real problem with listening young lady! *tut tut*

;)

 I knew if hubby didn't catch me you would! Hehe. I know, I know. It's more for that stupid "and others" message. Lol.

Sorry to monopolize the thread right now, but I just got back from a two mile walk with elevation and I'm resting my aching back (off pain killers now).

I thought it might be interesting - and helpful - to put together a plan for those just now getting ready to start on their gold shrines. Given that the leveling up is the most resource intensive part of the process, it makes sense to kill as many birds with one stone as possible (I hate that expression).

We'll want to tinker with it and I'll get things started.

It's tempting to just default to the Panlong with it's four elements. But it has two major drawbacks: first you need a pair and secondly it's 36/36. But they are great to keep for a coin factory when you're done. Here's what a Pan grouping might look like:

Panlong 36/36, sells for $1M
- Water
- Earth
- Fire
- Air

Love 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Plant
- Fire

Storm 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Cold

You cover all seven elements with three level raisings.

How about a grouping that doesn't include Panlongs? How about this?

Love 5/5, sells for $100K
- Lightening
- Plant
- Fire

Ice 8/8, sells for $250K
- Cold
- Water

Sandstorm. 2/2, sells for $500K (!)
- Air
- Earth

This covers all seven elements with no duplication and short breeding times.

OK, let's work on optimizing this and it can serve as a reference similar to the Breeding Guide when we're finished.

Yeh, way two looks faster! Ugh! Why am I always in the middle of something when a major update comes out like those darn bubbling farts! *throwing tantrum* !!!

Excellent to hear. Your walk still in and around your house, or you getting out into the neighbourhood now?

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to interrupt you with some questions. There are quite a few of us still working on Silver, sir. Do you think the process is pretty much the same? Is there something about the "need" to save the dragons to level up to gold that makes things different? Would you recommend working straight on from silver to gold for your first shrines whilst leaving the others at bronze?

The love dragon doubles up on lightning and fire, so a plant dragon would do the same job, with the benefit of a 15 second incubation time. Do you think there are any advantages to having 3 quite different incubation times? Especially if you're not going to spend gems to speed up the process?

Very keen to see what you come up with, sir.

In my opinion when going for the gold you may as well use something that sells for good money in the end because you won't be able to just level them up now like you can going for silver. It's easy to level them up to 10 but 15 is AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. Lol So you may as well do a longer breed that will pay off something when you sell them. Just my opinion.

OMG, OMG, OMG. I finally got my second Panlong. I didn't have time to check the breeding time when I set them to breed. Couldn't check yesterday so this morning I reset my breeding caves and rechecked my newly designed breeding island, to find a Panlong egg in the hatchery. Now onto frostfire. Thank God for 250strong's thread. No more searching through hours of pages to find out how. Thank you.

Yay! Congrats!

Oops looks like I was, temporarily, taking over the thread with all my replies again, sorry people, hehe.
(just saw Poppy thought he was too so I guess we'll have to share the 'honour', haha)

Some frustrating (for me) news from my new 'baby park'...

As previously mentioned I am trying to leave my islands pretty natural on my second account and so for my second (colosseums, farms and breeding) island I had tucked the breeding cave and nursery behind and between some big rocks to ensure privacy and quiet for my breeding/hatching dragons. I had only just got it done and was very happy with the idea and look.

[pic was supposed to be here but it won't upload ]

Do you see that little 'in process' bar on the bottom rock? :( THAT is the cause of my distress. You see, I next made the 'mistake' of trying to add/change some paths around my colosseum (designed to channel the visitors that way - AWAY from the breeding area) and, in the process, got bumped by my daughter...
Not only did I accidently touch the rock, instead of the path I was aiming for, but then I also "chose" to remove the rock all in one split second, accidental, jostle *sigh*.
I was literally going "Nooooooo, noooooooo, NO!" and felt like I was going to cry.
I REALLY wish there was a way to cancel removals (even if it took half the cost or something) as I have done this before and every time it's SO frustrating.

In the same vein, I wish there was an option to move some of the existing rocks/trees etc as I really like the look of them but maybe need the area configured slightly differently...I'd even pay the same amount to be able to move instead of remove.

Yeah, that's my DV 'rant' for the day...anyone else share my frustration?

Oh no! I agree. I would love to be able to move them or buy them back. I also thought they looked better and more what they should look like with the snow.

Changed my islands around yesterday. Made decision after too many failed attempts to count that I'd try the crystal bluefire option. First time 12 hours in breeding cave. Second time put them opposite way in ebi and got 48 hours.
Doing the happy happy dance.
Been avoiding the option cos I didn't want dreaded 24 hour crystal. Silly me.

So guys thanks for sending my son gems a little update on how he's going I bought him a small sack of gems ( 130) to get the EBI and his 48 HR was a rainbow ( not surprised as it was mud/blazing lol ) and he also now has his 3rd island and he's half cleared it , so he going pretty well and now he's got 2 caves to try for those pesky pans ( once he's bred a second pair of mud blazing) x x x x

Hope everyone in the family is recovering well!!
My poor family have been coughing and blowing nose for the past 2 weeks.. :(

Is it the global warming?

My lord. Hope you all get better! My grandson keeps bringing it home from school so as soon as he gets better he goes back to school and gets it again, brings it home to the baby and they pass it out to everyone here again. Ugh. :(

Yay had to come and tell you guys my son just got his first panlong yayyyyyyyy and the best thing is that he is in his nans for the weekend and I have been looking after his game so he does not even know yet he'll be soooooo pleased I got it in the EBI with fog lvl 8 and lava lvl 4 he had been trying to get it with blazing mud and I just decided to put in his fog and lava and bam 36 hrs first try with that combo x x x x

I said the game knew he was a kid and is going easy on him GT lmao x x x x but it must be he's had a sun a rainbow and a panlong in a week and a half x x x x

I did the same thing! Avoided it like the plague and tried every other rare combo. I decided to give it a go and poof!! Raonbow egg!
